If you’re looking for a matte, full-coverage foundation that will last all day and night without creasing or fading, we can’t recommend this one enough. Though we think it's ideal for those with oily or balanced skin, it's also a good choice for those with dry or combination skin, so long as you properly exfoliate and moisturize prior to application. It also comes in a pretty extensive shade range that's well dispersed across the skin tones, which is especially important for foundations that offer lots of coverage and won't be forgiving if your shade doesn't match your skin color. In addition to revering its long-wearing ability, we appreciated that it passed the transfer test with perfect scores-this is especially important if you have oily skin and struggle with your foundation migrating or breaking apart. It can cling to dry patches, which is pretty common with full-coverage foundations-but if you properly exfoliate and moisturize before using it, you’ll be able to yield a smooth, full-coverage result that appears skin-like and most importantly, lasts. Despite having a pretty thick texture which often makes for a cakey finish, it blends out beautifully on the face and can create a natural-looking base-if used properly. This is, without a doubt, one of the most popular full-coverage foundations on the market, and for good reason. We evaluated them based on coverage, texture, wear, finish, and transfer resistance-and ahead, we're sharing which ones outperformed their competition. So, we put dozens of full-coverage foundations to the test in our lab in NYC. Put simply, these formulas show up more on the skin meaning it’s extra important to ensure you find one that suits your complexion and skin type best. "Some people just like the way a heavier foundation looks regardless of their skin underneath."īut unlike sheer options, which are typically more forgiving if the color, finish, or texture isn’t a spot-on match, finding your perfect full-coverage foundation can be more challenging. ![]() "Full coverage foundation offers a heavier finish and is often used to conceal blemishes or discoloration in the skin," says Misha Shahzada, celebrity makeup artist. Whether you have acne, redness, or hyperpigmentation that you like to conceal, or a full-glam look is more aligned with your aesthetic, a foundation that offers more coverage can be more favorable. But while such complexion formulas dominate the trends, let’s not forget how valuable a solid full-coverage foundation can be. There’s no denying that skin tints and sheer foundations have captured the hearts of makeup lovers over the last few years.

Twenty-two of Dylan's hundreds of songs are melded into the play. The songs are an essential part of Girl from the North Country, make no mistake, but Dylan wrote no new music for the show, did not work on musical arrangements, and basically just gave McPherson and the creative team his blessing to do their best by his music. The distance from his birthplace to his hometown is an apt metaphor for the distance between the birth of this project, at Dylan's own bidding, and his subsequent involvement, which was zero. This is where Bob Dylan was born (as Robert Zimmerman) in 1941, though he was raised through high school seventy-six miles away in Hibbing, nestled in the rugged Iron Range. McPherson placed his story in Duluth, Minnesota. In both setting and tone, it reminds me of Lanford Wilson's wonderful (and far too neglected) play, The Hot l Baltimore. Their lives cross in a run-down boarding house, a sort of last-chance way station from which only a fortunate few rebound to better times. Set in November 1934, with the Great Depression rampaging through America's psyche, the story has thirteen characters, all dealing with loss: past, present, or on the horizon. The show was aglow with the beauty and heart of its music, its book, its design, and its performances. Due to scheduling issues, and by agreement with the show's representatives, I saw a preview performance on October 8, prior to the October 10 press opening, but I did not note a single thing needing a bit of work before opening. It is playing for just one week at the historic Orpheum Theatre, especially fitting because Bob Dylan (and his brother) owned the Orpheum for a period in the 1980s. Now, Minneapolis has the honor of hosting the first stop of the national tour. The show reopened in October 2021, but like most shows in those early days after the shutdown, it was slow to rebuild an audience and closed in June 2022, having been nominated for that year's Best Musical Tony Award. A week later it was shut down, along with the rest of the theatre world, by the COVID pandemic. After a successful premiere run in London, followed by Off-Broadway and Toronto stints, it opened to acclaim on Broadway in March 2020. Well, thank the stars that he did: Girl from the North Country is a radiant, deeply moving musical unlike any other you are likely to see. Since an attempt at a musical using Dylan's songs, The Times They Are A-Changin' had already failed miserably in 2006 on Broadway (that one was a dance musical created by no less a genius than Twyla Tharp), McPherson must have given the notion some careful thought before agreeing to it. The project began when Dylan approached McPherson about taking on such an undertaking. Girl from the North Country is a musical with a book by notable Irish playwright Conor McPherson and songs from the catalog of Nobel laureate Bob Dylan. (See Forbush decrease for short-term changes of GCR related to space strong solar events) But unlike the solar cycle, where bursts of activity can change the environment quickly, the GCR spectrum remains relatively constant in energy and composition, varying only slowly with time. Just as the solar cycle follows a roughly 11-year cycle, so does the GCR, with its maximum, however, coming near solar minimum. Near solar minimum, in the absence of many coronal mass ejections and their corresponding magnetic fields, GCR particles have easier access to Earth. Over the course of a solar cycle the solar wind modulates the fraction of the lower-energy GCR particles such that a majority cannot penetrate to Earth near solar maximum. The strong magnetic fields of the Sun modulate the GCR flux and spectrum at Earth. Because of this, these particles interact with and are influenced by magnetic fields. These nuclei are fully ionized, meaning all electrons have been stripped from these atoms. These highly energetic particles consist of essentially every element ranging from hydrogen, accounting for approximately 89% of the GCR spectrum, to uranium, which is found in trace amounts only. GCR originate outside the solar system and are likely formed by explosive events such as supernova. "That's useful for people who want to see it, and it's also useful for people who are concerned about the effects of space weather and currents in the upper atmosphere on communication and things like that.Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCR) are the slowly varying, highly energetic background source of energetic particles that constantly bombard Earth. "All these observations in aggregate help us to build better models of aurorae," she added. "And there's the less-exciting aspect of the citizen science observations," which are equally scientifically valuable. Scientists understand a lot about auroras, but not everything - "so there's the discovery aspect," MacDonald said. (Plus, crowdsourcing platforms like Aurorasaurus, which MacDonald founded, help aggregate the observations to help with prediction and analysis.) And the improvement in camera technology available to the public means such records are increasingly valuable to scientists' understanding of auroras in general. It's at the farthest reaches of dedicated scientific cameras, and it appears on wavelengths different from the usual auroras, which those cameras might not be prepared to document. (Image credit: Andy Witteman is the first visible indicator of that ion drift, which researchers had been investigating via satellite for around 40 years, she added.īecause the phenomenon was occurring outside the usual geographic range for frequent auroras, citizen scientists played a particularly valuable role in understanding STEVE, MacDonald said. The feature was visible for about an hour. STEVE ripples over Helena Lake Ranch, BC, Canada in the early evening. And scientifically, "it's an aspect related to that's further south than we ever had recognized … It tells us that the processes creating the aurora are penetrating all the way into the inner magnetosphere, and so that's a new aspect of it." "It's exciting because this might be a kind of aurora that more people can see than any other kind, because when it shows up, it shows up over more populated areas that are further to the south," Elizabeth MacDonald, a researcher at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland and lead author of the new work, told. (STEVE is short for "Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement.") According to the new work, the distinctive ribbon of purple light with green accents - which can occur at lower latitudes than normal auroras do - gives scientists a glimpse into the interactions of Earth's magnetic field and upper atmosphere. As of a new paper's release today (March 14), the phenomenon has been dubbed STEVE, a backronym that matches the name originally given by aurora watchers. ![]() ![]() So basically, it won't work for the Remastered nor the Cartooned versions, then?
